Not far, maybe 15 miles. Haulover Beach is between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, a few miles south of the county line. On a map it will be between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles.
US 1 or I-95 south will do it. Find 163rd/167th street, AKA Sunny Isles Blvd or SR 826. Work your way east to A1A and go south.
It is not a straight shot down A1A from Fort Lauderdale beach becase of Port Everglades. Because of the Intercoastal Waterway only main east-west roads access the beach.
