In response to Paul queries below...
When one sees Hollywood's version of nude beaches, often when it is a quick segement in a sitcom or movie, the crowds are usually younger and a good 50/50 mix of male and females with some pretty attracive nudists. The videos I've shot as well as Dr. Socal and others seem to convey this concept...please know, for every 10 seconds of footage there are hours of waiting, and what we see most of the time is not worth the price of the film.
I've been to probably 20 different nude beaches over the past 25 years in four countries as well as locations in the Carribean. There is of course variations to the mix and attractiveness of the crowds, and you will even find significant variations at the same beach from week to week.
But *in general* those that frequent nude beaches will agree, here is what you can expect at most any nude beach in the world on a given day (US, UK, Spain, France, etc.):
1. Men far out number the women. Period. If couples were not counted, the ratio of single men to single women is sometimes over 10 to 1. Beaches that have locals that are highly protective of the female sunbathers (ergo, confront gawkers and those that throw the towels down in the comfort zone of the women) will see a significantly higher ratio of females. And the areas where such locals congregate will have a higher portion of females in that area than the rest of the beach.
2. Most nude beaches have a gay area at one end or the other that are almost 100% male. Nude beaches always draw a lot of gay traffic, which doesn't necessarily mean they are trolling.
3. All nude beaches have a significant number of clothed gawking males often trolling the beach for a gawking opportunity.
4. Nudist groups and nudist clubs are mostly couples in their 40s and 50s with bodies that are out of shape and unattractive. These also have a lot of single males but few single females, and few females under 40. It is rare to see a very attractive single female at these resorts and in these clubs.
Why I go is that one does see attractive nude women sunbathing, and sometimes some sexual energy erupts amongst couples that liven the day for those that enjoy it. But if you haven't been to one, you may be disappointed upon your first trip. The key is to not have high expectations and when you're there to think "hey, I could be at work instead!"
