I went there over the winter holidays; lots of nude sunbathing and swimming. Definately not sexual, by the way. I would say mostly topless and maybe one out of five (male and female) completely nude.
There are lots of couples at cabanas copal, Tulum; so, you don't need to worry about rude oglers. ;)
Hope this helps, it really was a great two weeks of sun and good food and perfectly clean beaches--they have hired a crew(well, two locals) to clean the beach every morning.
Have a relaxing trip while you stay at this 'real nude beach'--even the hotel literature in your room encourages freedom from clothes.
