Hi Tracie and Helen,
Only want to add a few remarks to Helen's comment.
Barcelona has a nudist beach called Marbella about 1 or 2 km from the city centre. It is a bit protected from wind by a huge slope, which divides the beach from the walking promenade. It is a declared naturist beach, but there always a few people with swim suits. The beach is not gay or lesbian dominated.
You can go top-less on any Barcelona beach.
There is another beach called San Sebastian which can be considered nudist, but it is not a declared nudist beach. However, I went without swim suit there and a few others did so too and nobody objected.
Sitges is 30 minutes by train from Barcelona and nice, but not a very large beach.
Further up north are a few nice spots and also some larger nudist beaches.
naturist greetings
Mike
: We have been to Platje de Barceloneta, which is very central just round the corner from the marina at the South end of the Ramblas, easily walkable from the city centre. This was a good beach but not nude (most girls were topless). I think nudity is common at Sitges, some way to the South, you can easily get there by train, and the nude area is at the far (West) end. Sitges is a popular place for gays, and I do not know what it would be like for non-gays; the weather was bad when we went so noone on the beach. I do not know whether there are other nude beaches nearby, but there are many beaches going East/Northwards towards the border with France. Apart from beaches, Barcelona is a great city and well worth going to, as is the whole area of Catalonia.
