First off, Tarzan's Chicago WNBR pics are fantastic and I just want to congratulate him because those are the best nighttime WNBR pics I've seen anywhere on the net.
I covered (or tried to cover) this years Portland night WNBR ride. All my pics were blurry from shooting without a flash. Tarzan, if you are there - can you tell me exactly how you took your pics (camera type, settings, flash, etc). Or to anyone - clue me in on night shooting at an event like this in general. I really don't know that much about photography. If I shoot in continuous mode, for example, then I've got a flash going off every second or so and will that drain my battery real fast? Or will the flash even work in continuous mode? Never tried it - suppose I ought to......
