This Brad (maker of beach movies for Cocco).
One of the most phenomenal experiences I've ever had was during red tide at Blacks. Red tide is caused by micro organisms that hit Blacks for a couple of weeks turning the ocean a rusty reddish color. No one knows exactly what causes it or can it be predicted.
What is absolutely phenomenal about red tide is night. These lil critters in the water give off light when frustrated. As the waves crash, bluish lightning shoots across the face of the wave. If you walk on the west sand at night, explosions of blue light shoot out from where you step. For those that have never seen it, it sounds like an Isaac Asimov planet experience. For those that have, it's awesome.
Anyone know if it's happened this year?
