First, we get "June gloom" here in So. Cal. that time of year. If it is cloudy and a bit windy, I'd recommend enjoying other great things around San Diego and perhaps TJ.
As it pertains to the crowds, Blacks has by far more people, but I believe the ratio of men to women is the highest in the nation for any nude beach.
San O is not too much better, but does see a mixed crowd. However, because you must pay about $10 to get to San O, you are less likely to see the hobo's, vagrants, and large groups of indigents that hang out at Blacks because as they say "they get to see nekkid ladies for free".
Blacks also attracts a large population of folks parading up and down the beach, either being exhibitionists or gawking because it is a flat beach. San O has a steeper of sand with a narrower flat stretch, thus, people lay out at San O kind of in single file down the beach as opposed to the spatious Blacks.
Lastly, watch out for rip currents. They are extremely bad that time of year and can kill you...I've seen big problems.
: I'll be in the Orange County area toward the end of May and would love to check out one of the area nude beaches while I'm there. It looks like either Black's Beach or San Onofre would be most convenient for me, but I need some guidance as to which one anyone thinks is better. I guess I'd prefer the one that is likely to have the bigger crowd (I'd rather be one of hundreds of naked people than one of twelve!). Any suggestions?
