I have been during the week on a clear and cool day. Few were there. But having the cove to yourself, enjoying its beauty, exploring the trail on the rock ledge above the cove (which has an awesome cage that runs through the rocks) etc., is worth it. You may not see any nudity to mention, but it's hard to think of a better spot on earth to be.

The weekends do get a much bigger crowd; however, unlike other CA beach like San Onofre that doesn't have enough space or parking, I've never seen it max out at Avila.

You'll find a better ratio of females to male at that beach (in general) than other CA beaches like Blacks or San Onofre (San Diego), More Mesa (Santa B) or Baker's (SF). But still expect to see a lot more men than women.

The north end has few nudies, the south end has more. But the north end gets more clothed females, so if your an exhibitionist that likes to parade your nuditity in front of the ladies, you'll have an opportunity. The beach is small enough to where you'll make that decision when there.

Because it's a free beach (no charge), you'll see a lot of the latino groups of men stalking/gawking, as well as the garden variety gawking men. They're worse on the weekends.

The good news is that it is a friendly local crowd, and if you're nice and unobtrusive, watch out - you just might make some friends.

: Brad this the first time to go to a nude beach at avila. When would you say the best time to go and which side of the beach is the best side to hang out on? I would guess weekdays are less people and weekends its packed, but whens the best time to go for me being a first time nude beach usar would you say? I am going to go by my self and just wantied some more feedback on times if you know? Thanks kman
