: Thank you for the comments. I was incharge of the area by the pavillion where the fire department was. Usually we have picnick benches but we were poor on the planning this year. I was not at the pit so I take no offense. I will pass along your concerns of the security blocking the view. Please foreword ideas and suggestions to me so we can make the show better each year. I hope you will reconsider next year and give us another chance. We cant control the weather. I have no power to change things but I am in a position to present ideas and concerns. Let's face it, this a money making venture. If people are unhappy they will not come back. That's not what we want...................................................fireman-bill
Fireman Bill,
Thanks for listening. I realize you can't control the weather, but keeping the pit area open before and after the contests would have allowed some of us to sit in the shade and escape the sun breifly. If you want to clear the pit an hour before the contests so everyone has an equal chance at the limited seating that is fine by me, but I could not understand why it had to be cleared and locked up again immediately following the contests as well. My intention is NOT to badmouth the event, but to suggest ways it might be improved. Like P.Dust, the amateur contests have always been my favorite part of the total event. In the past the stage was NOT so barricaded with the benches on 3 sides, pro shooters on the 4th, and security pacing all 4 sides. These contestants are doing a lot of "floor" shows and ONLY the pro-shooters are able to get a peek at it. I suppose an elevated stage is out, due to the possibility of someone falling off, but there HAS to be a better answer. Unless that is the pros do not want to give anyone else a chance to see the pit show...they DID block the main stage from video a few years ago.
