Subject: Women going topless in New York City

Just saw a report about this book club that meets in parks in New York City and reads topless. They’ve got a blog - http://coedtoplesspulpfiction.wordpress.com/ . Looks like fun!

Yeah, those women are great - but you have to buy a ticket to see them!  These girls are walking topless on the street, for all to see.

Hmmmm, they look like hired models to me.  and indeed it looks like they are peddling the books listed here http://coedtoplesspulpfiction.wordpress.com/books/

Re: Women going topless in New York City

Great observation, Cocco! Yes it did seem like obvious product placement in their “casual” shots, with the book covers always in prominent display. That wouldn’t happen in unplanned shots. But in my opinion I would not mind at all if this form of promotional advertising catches on for all sorts of products. The important thing is that top freedom is getting more acceptable in a few US cities, and the WNBR rides are getting more popular. I want to see this trend continued, even if it requires a few commercial sponsors along the way. How about bodypainted logos sponsoring exhibitionists. I recall in Key West the exotic dancers wore tiny hot pants downtown, and the message, “Follow me to the Pirates Den” printed on their bottoms. Pretty effective!

Artiztik:
women going around topless as men do, i sure hope not. bra companies would go out of business for one.
and before you know it, women would jog topless, speed walk topless, and haven knows what else?
i say if god wanted women to be topless, they would have been born that way, oh ya….they were.
  NM

i jest as you well know, its amazing what some come up with to attempt to justify any dumb statements they manage to think of. if someone can explain to me just how the bible/religion has anything to do with how much clothes someone wears or dont wear, i would love to hear it. its all in their head, they have an ugly body so they now think everyone should cover up cause they cant handle what god created in all its splendor.  of course i am talking about the female form!

Re: Women going topless in New York City

Does anyone know if cameras are allowed at these “Topless Reading” events? I’d like to attend, but if they don’t allow cameras, I’m not gonna bother.

Re: Women going topless in New York City

well in nyc currently the following is true:

its legal for females to go topless in public.
its legal to do photography in public of anything that also
happens to be in public and that no privacy is expected.
i would expect that no city cop or anyone would tell you to stop shooting, [photography that is], those topless reading books females!
Davani, would you?
some jackass may call you a pervert, but thats about it, and i would also venture to say you would not
be the only one shooting them while you were there.

Re: Women going topless in New York City

I would only hope that FLORIDA follows suit with NEW YORK state,
and makes it legal for females to go topless where males legally may do so currently, I think the book
clubs would spring up, so to speak all over the place. and with the weather being better donw here
most of the year. those book reading boobies would be all over the place almost every day and other advertising ways to make money, well untill the big deal about females breasts wore off!
it would be awesome, well until the newness wore off, then it would not be such a big thing any more,
so to speak. LOL
even for perhaps a few months or so, camera sales would boom,
then after that things would be the same as they were before.

Re: Women going topless in New York City

Here’s what I found:

“*Please note that Naked Girls Reading enforces a strict no-photo and no-recording policy at all events.*”

Source: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/194551

Well, that settles it. Glad I found out before spending all that $$ on a NYC trip.

But I have another question. Has anyone heard of the video series “Naked News”? I’ve seen footage where those Naked News girls are apparently in NYC, topless (because that’s the only cities where toplessness is allowed in public), interviewing people, selling stuff, or just having fun, right on the street. Is there a way to find out where those NN girls are filming?

Women going topless in New York City

danvani: i guess there may be some confusion somewhere going on, i know of what your talking about, the one i meant and was talking about was the ones that going on in the parks and street on in public, not in any club or venue. those i am sure are much more restricted in what you may and may not do, hmm. and record. but while out in public they are fair game with anyone with a camera, those are the ones i meant and seen images of. Someone even commented on how the images were shot to make sure the covers were in the shot, and they looked a lot like ADS, and advertising. the other item you mentioned, ill also try to find info on that, should be interesting what the future holds for NYC and more females going topless while out in public, very interesting indeed. hell, it may even become a tourist attraction of sorts…...LOL

if you decide to take the trip to NYC, good luck in getting some great images, and surely bring them back here for us to see…lol. but if you decide to come down to MIAMIBEACH for the topless beaches, also good luck.

Re: Women going topless in New York City

While topless is “Legal” in NYC, apparently it is so uncommon as to draw a huge crowd of gawkwers, with results in Police taking action to disperse the crowd. Odds of seeing a random topless appearance must be pretty rare, so if you want photos it is still “Bring Your Own Model”. Found this story, from August 2011, while researching the subject. And there are other pro photographers who specialize in staging topless photo ops. But it seems the girls of the Big Apple don’t give it away free, they are generally doing topless on the streets only as paid models or occasionally as a protest group, gay pride, etc. And being topless on the street to promote a product is still illegal in NYC.

Topless woman draws a crowd in New York City’s Times Square for psychedelic body painting performance
By Daily Mail Reporter
Times Square used to be known for its seedy peep shows. There was skin on display again on Friday, but this time in the name of art. Painter Andy Golub caused a stir when he had 23-year-old model Marla Mera undress, and began slathering paint on her body. Exhibitionist: Model Marla Mera is snapped by dozens of photographers and ogled by onlookers as artist Andy Golub paints her body neon pink and green in Times SquareIt is legal for women to go topless in New York City. But the New York Post reports that police stepped in and asked Mr Golub to do something about the large crowd of photographers, reporters and ogling onlookers surrounding the pair. The woman put on a sports bra, prompting the majority of the 150-strong crowd to disperse. Explaining the art spectacle, he told the Post: ‘What I do (in public) is an extension of what I do in the studio. Sharing it with the public is a great experience.’ It was his second try at putting on the performance. He was charged with public lewdness on July 30 after having two models take off all their clothes. He avoided trouble this time by having model Ms Mera wear a G-string.  (Photos: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028384/Topless-woman-draws-crowd-New-York-Citys-Times-Square-psychedelic-body-painting-performance.html#
